Ede is a village located at the edge of a stretched national park called “The Veluwe”. There are a lot of  possibilities for walking and bike riding. But Ede also has the advantages of a larger village like shops, pubs, restaurants, a cinema (the largest 3D digital theatre in Holland) etc.

The earliest history of Ede goes back to the prehistory, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age and even the Romans left their marks. (Celtic fields/Grave hills etc)

In WW 2 the heath land near Ede was the landing ground of the 10th Battalion. Every year there is a memorial in September.

In the Dark ages (ca. 1200 ) Ede was a village with a certain status due to the fact that there was a stone Church. Around 1840 the railroad Arnhem - Utrecht  was constructed and this accessibility made Ede an attractive place for richer people from the cities.

In 1906 the army barracks were build and this gave the economy of this small country village a huge impulse. In 1920 when the ENKA etstablishes their factory for artificial silk we can say:

The 20th century has begun for Ede.

In 2008 the factory has been closed and the barracks will soon be gone, but Ede remains a beautiful place. Near Ede you can find : National Park "Hoge Veluwe" with the Kröller Möller museum, Burger's Zoo, The National Heritage museum, the Airborne museum...

And a lot more...
